HOME DEPOT SUPPORTED THE URBAN FARMING MOTHER’S DAY FREE PLANT GIVEAWAY™!
Urban Farming™ supports people who want to plant food at home by giving away free plants to people who become a part of the Urban Farming Global Food Chain™.
“By encouraging people to plant their own gardens, we help families cut monthly costs and raise awareness about healthy eating”, said Taja Sevelle, Founder and Executive Director of Urban Farming™, adding that, “Our garden projects focus on healthy living and the importance of healthy eating.”
The URBAN FARMING™ / HOME DEPOT MOTHER’S DAY FREE PLANT GIVEAWAY™ was held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the following two Home Depot store locations:
- • 18700 Meyers Road, Detroit, Michigan
- • 660 12 Mile Road, Madison Heights, Michigan.
As Home Depot customers left the Home Depot stores, they were given free vegetable plants and seeds for their home gardens which they registered with the Urban Farming Global Food Chain™. In total, on that day, Urban Farming™ gave away 2,500 plants and 200 packs of seeds. Plants and seeds included: collards, peppers, okra, lettuce, carrots, and watermelon.
